Meeting Great Grandparents

Drew got to meet his Great Grandma & Grandpa Thompson when they blessed us with a 2 week visit to Texas from Iowa. We got to spend 1/2 of that time with them here in Fort Worth. Drew almost immediately took to them once we got home from picking them up at the airport. Drew just loved playing, laughing and smiling at them; though it's no wonder, they have such great experience at being parents & grandparents, they really know all the fun games & tricks! :)
Drew got some special love though from both grandparents, getting a special treat of spoiling, getting a long nap while rocking with Grandma. He also spent some time with Grandma making some famous homemade bread!

And no worries, he got some great playing time with Grandpa too - finding fun wherever we may be, though Drew was especially intrigued with Grandpa's face & glasses!

We made the trip to Houston for the weekend for Great G & G T to spend a week with their favorite Texas daughter & son-in-law! What fun we had that weekend with 4 Grandparents to spoil Drew. We even got to go to Pilgrim's School Auction with an "all white" theme and yummy dinner. Grandpa & Nana returned the favor and brought them back to us for a few more days before their return trip back North.

We had such fun being with them and were so blessed to get such quality time in those 2 wonderful weeks together. All in all, there was lots of laughter & fun; oh, and don't forget the Blue Bell ice cream & Perry Mason, Matlock & other favorites! We loved having them and can't wait to see them again!

7 Months

This month has brought quite a few firsts to our lives - emphasizing more and more how quickly Drew is growing and changing.

We have entered the world of trying new foods as often as possible. It turns out Drew is a pretty hungry kid at dinner time especially, scarfing down lots of food and an hour later still nursing before bedtime! He is now eating banana, avocado (pictured below!), peas, sweet potato, squash, prunes, pears, carrots, apples & homemade brown rice cereal/porrige. He still loves his oatmeal cereal above all others though!

Drew is also starting to sit up on his own - though not for too long and always needs to have someone nearby for the inevitable topple over, but certainly getting better and better every day. He is rolling lots at will these days. It's fun to see him see & move for the toy he's interested in instead of just the ones we give to him.

We introduced him to the snow with the 2 more snow days we had in February - no shock that he just didn't get it, but he was out there experiencing it with us for a few minutes at least.

We continue to get more and more comments & compliments on his hair - it really is a very distinct characteristic - the red of course comes from Daddy, and the sticking straight up comes from Mommy - hers was just like that as a baby too! The bald spot on the back of his head is starting to disappear as he's 'up' more. Not just that he's sitting, but the kid LOVES to play more than anything - eating or sleeping!
He continues to lighten and liven our lives with his adorable smile and laughs. This month he introduced a 'squinty' smile that always made us crack up laughing. He is certainly becoming more and more vocal, playing around with sounds, including the fake cough! He has moments of being ticklish, which are absolutely adorable and super fun for Mom & Dad. He has started to give what we like to call kisses - he dives in for the jaw/chin, sometimes for a peck, and sometimes to knaw on - quite endearing, and a little bit messy! What a darling we have!

As always, here are this month's growth stats: Height: 27 1/2 in. (75%) Weight: 17 lb. 8 oz. (50%) Head Circumf: 44 cm. (50%)
