Happy Half Birthday Drew!

Just like any other parents, we can't believe it's been 6 months already - the time has flown and there are so many changes, it's unbelievable! When we look back to the day he was born, we are reminded of how blessed we are to have our sweet Drew!

It has been another eventful month. Drew has certainly picked up on more babbling and talking, even making some two-syllable sounds. He has found his feet for sure, and loves to get them in his mouth, sometimes both at once! He has certainly been more entertaining as we continue to find more and more things to make him smile and laugh. He LOVES his jumper...bouncy, bouncy, bounce! His feet just love to move regardless of what position he is in, but even more so when it leads to jumping! He still loves looking in the mirror, and we think he's pretty bright in that he seems to have figured out the reflection thing - both of himself and of us - he knows he can look into the mirror to see us behind him - pretty smart!!!

He is rolling more and more, but has only rolled onto his stomach once - and it was during the night, so not real sure how it all came together, but he is awfully close, sometimes rolling over 90% and then flops right back onto his back, perfectly content where he came from! :) He rolls onto his side all the time though, and even more so when he's sleeping. He is better at liking his tummy time, but doesn't last long now that he's so good at rolling himself onto his back. We have started to challenge his sitting a little more, and he's able to prop himself with both hands for ever so briefly of moments before he falls to the side or throws himself backward.

His sleeping has been MUCH better, thankfully. He is taking pretty consistent naps and going down with hardly a fuss at all these days - what a difference! He is also sleeping through the night, so we are happy to have night feedings a thing of the past (it's really been almost a full month now) and he is getting better at putting himself back to sleep when he stirs at night. He did have his first ear infection this month - both ears infected & a chest cold - so that was a bit rough for us all, but thankfully that is all healed and we pray those are few and far between! Those were long nights, but he's pretty much back to normal now - YEAH!

Solid foods is now a normal part of our day, twice a day in fact. Though Mommy has been slow to introduce new foods, dragging her feet on believing that it's time for this little one to eat real food. He is eating rice and oatmeal cereal. And on a spur of the moment, because my son is still hungry what do I do, we tried some mashed banana! He can certainly tell there is a difference, but seems to really like eating solid foods. And, thanks to the all clear from the doctor, we are ready, set, go ahead with trying all sorts of new foods...so that's part of what our future holds. His eating has changed so much, it's hard to shift gears, but is now nursing only 4 times a day and eating solids twice a day - so different than just a little bit ago...but it's a welcomed change.

Drew did great at his doctor appointment today. Taking all 5 shots like a champ and is tolerating it all so well - what a strong boy we have. His growth is still good - not setting any records, but everyone is happy and comfortable with his growing...so here's the stats for the month: Weight: 16 lb. 8 oz. (50%), Length: 27 1/4 in. (75%), Head Circ: 43 cm. (30%).
